How to download Instagram Reels on Android
On Android you only need your browser and the Instagram app you already have. These steps use Chrome; other browsers are similar but menu names differ.
Steps
- In Instagram, open the public Reel, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open ReelGrab in Chrome. Tap Paste (or long-press the box and paste), then Get download link.
- When the result appears, tap Download video. Chrome saves the file to your Downloads folder and shows a notification.
- You can play the preview on the page first. If nothing happens when you tap the button, wait a few seconds and tap it again, or paste the Reel link again for a fresh download.
Where are downloads stored?
Chrome saves files to your device's Downloads folder. Open the Files app (or tap Chrome's download notification) to find it. Some gallery apps show it under Downloads or Movies; if not, move it into your gallery from Files.
Browser permissions
- Allow Chrome to show notifications if you want download progress alerts.
- On some devices or older Android versions, Chrome asks for storage access the first time. Allow it, or the download will fail.
- If Paste is blocked, allow clipboard access when prompted or paste manually.
Common Android problems
- "Not a Reel link": the link must contain
/reel/. Profile, Story and photo-post links aren't supported. - Download starts then fails: the video link is temporary. Generate a fresh one and try again, and check you have free storage.
- Opens in Instagram instead of the browser: copy the link first and paste it in; don't tap it.
- Fails every time: the Reel may be private, deleted or restricted. See why a Reel won't download.
Respect the creator
Reposting someone else's Reel without permission can break copyright and Instagram's rules. Downloading does not give you ownership.
